Turnaround and lead tech-wholesaler into new future.
From crisis management to good result. Commissioned by shareholders as Non-Executive Director at De Jong Th., technical wholesaler for pumps and heating technology, I guided the process. First scaled down to restore cash flow, then refocused the teams, and separated the business into two, to sell them separately.
Situation: In 2014 both Pumps and Heating Technology business loss making. In the previous years turnover and gross margin had declined and were structurally insufficient to cover total costs.
Challenge: In order to survive, the thing to do were: to restore positive cash flow, develop new momentum in both businesses, and prepare them for sale.
Approach: To survive immediate intervention was required. Part of the organization was scaled down. The two non-synergetic business units were then split up, brought back on track in iterations, and sold separately in 2016.
